Bio

Bayou Bennett, a native of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, received her M.F.A. from the University of Arkansas and recently completed her feature length documentary, “Me, My Father and the Hurricane,” which will have its debut at the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.

A producer, award-winning filmmaker, multi media artist and dancer, Bayou currently works for New York production company, Dolce Films and is a cinema professor at the New York Institute of Technology.  At Dolce Films, Bayou is working on a number of short films and documentaries, most notably the award-winning TV series “Around the Block” starring Lea Michele of Fox’s hit series “Glee.”

Growing up, Bayou had a dream to travel the world, create art and experience cultures. She lived and studied in New Zealand during High School, and later moved to Rome during college while working on her MFA. Right after college she made her home in the art capital of the world, New York City and pursued her great passions-film, dance and performance art. Her artwork has been exhibited in New York, Texas, Arkansas and London.

Driven by a purpose to inspire hope and change in a turbulent world, Bayou works her hardest to breath life in to the type of creative projects that will have a significant impact on society.  Whether teaching film as a Professor of Cinema at the New York Institute of Technology, doing avant- garde performance art, or being behind the camera, Bayou Bennett is always pushing the boundaries and giving 110 percent.
